Bringing EX to A Million Hearts

Grant Summary:

Healthcare providers are in a unique position to advise the millions of smokers they see each year about the importance of quitting and to connect them with cessation treatment resources. Electronic health records (EHR) can help remind and prompt healthcare providers to do this on a consistent basis. Led by researchers at Georgetown University and MedStar Health, this study was designed to create a standardized clinical workflow using the EHR to help healthcare providers systematically ask all adult patients about their tobacco use, advise tobacco users to quit, and connect them with a digital quit smoking program (EX).
